The Federal Police of Ethiopia announced that on July 25, 2014, they arrested more than 1.2 million Birr, which was going to illegally enter Tigray region from Addis Ababa, along with a suspect of foreign nationality, on July 25, 2014 in Semera city of Afar region.

 

The Federal Police of Ethiopia announced that on July 25, 2014, they arrested more than 1.2 million Birr, which was going to illegally enter Tigray region from Addis Ababa, along with a suspect of foreign nationality, on July 25, 2014 in Semera city of Afar region.

The suspect was able to be arrested after the suggestions of the community and the strict surveillance by the members of the Federal Police of Ethiopia when he was moving behind a Toyota vehicle commonly known as Dolphin to hide the money in different parts of the car.

According to the police's preliminary investigation, it was found that the seized money was used for the evil purpose of the terrorist group TPLF operating in the Tigray region.

The Federal Police of Ethiopia has called on the society to realize the harm that illegal money transfer causes to the country's economy and to do its part in controlling terrorist activities at any level by making appropriate coordination with the security agencies.
